The KUZEY / NORTH ARMS P122 is a basic blank gun w/ minimal controls / complexities.
It features no hammer, meaning it is striker fired, as well as a basic double blade trigger safety, though nowhere near as refined as the one you'll find on the GN 19 model. It is a bit crude to say the least, in comparison, but it works.
The handle on this pistol is beeft, has faint stippling running from one side of the grip, right around the frontal end to the other side. The rear is clean / smooth. The backstrap runs up evenly and more vague stippling is to be had at the handle's apex where the thumbrest would normally be, with a very slight compensation made to rest one's thumb and index.
There are four cocking serration on the rear as well as the front for racking the slide, so the option to cock the gun can readily be performed either way. Unlike other KUZEY ARMS blank gun pistols, this model does feature a black ejection port, barrel and muzzle tip. The serial number is printed on the ejection port, whereas the calibre markings is printed on the lower right face of the slide.
Under the barrel, we have a Picatinny rail w/ two slots. The make and model is printed on the left face of slide.
The field-strip feature is not too dissimilar from that of a GLOCK's, in that you have to depress the tabs down on both side, which will drop the slide lock down, whereafter the slide, with a bit of effort, can be scooted off via the rear end, thereafter, slid off of the rail.
You'll notice on this particular model that all the controls have a type of gold plated sheen, which does lend for an attractive appearance.
The trigger here, you'll notice has a bit of slack which needs to be taken up before the sear will be disengaged. This slack needs to be taken up carefully to avoid accidentally / unintentially discharging the gun / releasing the firing pin.
The barrel end has that typical blowback tip threaded into the barrel end, that might otherwise give away this pistol as a blank firing gun, however, this tip is necessary for the slide to be blown back w/ exceess barrel pressure once the loaded cartridge is discharged and thus enable this gun's semi-automatic capability. Without this tip, this gun will loose that capability.
The frame itself is completely polymer, retained together by a series of five punch pins and finally, featuring an underbarrel Picatinny rail w/ 2x rail slots. The rail altogether measures in 35mm and there is a 25mm clearance off of the frontal end of the trigger guard.
We appreciate this pistol's rather basic appearance and operation. It cycles / chambers the rounds with reliable ease and it will do all the basics properly with no stiff operation regarding the cycling.
