Which action do you have?

This is the only question that matters before anything else. WOOX stocks are inletted for a specific action and will not fit another. The range here covers Remington 700 in short and long action, Ruger 10/22, Howa 1500 and Weatherby, Sauer 100 and CZ457. Within Remington 700 there is a further split between BDL and DBM AICS, which refers to how the magazine is fed, so check yours before ordering. What a stock upgrade actually buys

Three things. Fit, because a stock sized to you rather than to an average puts your eye behind the scope naturally instead of forcing a head position. Rigidity, because a stiffer stock with a properly bedded action removes a source of shot to shot variation. And handling, since weight distribution and grip geometry determine how steady the rifle is offhand. None of that shows on a spec sheet, and all of it shows on paper.

Bottom metal is a separate part

The Remington 700 trigger guards stocked here are the bottom metal, which holds the magazine and trigger guard assembly. A DBM conversion changes a rifle from a fixed internal magazine to a detachable box magazine, which is a genuine upgrade in reloading speed. Check whether your chosen stock is inletted for BDL or DBM before ordering the bottom metal, since they are not interchangeable.

Common questions

Is fitting a stock a home job? Dropping an action into a correctly inletted stock is straightforward. Getting the best from it usually involves torquing action screws to specification and sometimes bedding, which is worth having done properly.

Will my existing bottom metal fit? Only if the stock is inletted for it. BDL and DBM AICS are different, and the listing states which.

Walnut or laminate? Walnut is traditional and lighter. Laminates such as tiger wood and dark forest are more stable across humidity changes and generally more durable. Both are offered at similar prices.

Does it affect zero? Yes. Any change to how the action sits in the stock means re-zeroing the rifle afterwards.
