Mil-spec or com-spec, and why it matters

This is the single thing to get right. Mil-spec and com-spec buffer tubes differ by roughly two hundredths of an inch, which is enough that a stock built for one will either not fit the other or will fit loosely and rattle. Measure your existing buffer tube or check what came with the rifle before ordering. The two are not interchangeable and no adjustment fixes it.

What the folding stock adapter does

An AKM does not accept an AR-pattern stock without an adapter, because the receiver has no buffer tube. The Key Arma folding stock adapter supplies the mounting point and the buffer, which is what lets an AR-style collapsible stock go onto an AK platform. Buy the adapter and the stock together, since one without the other achieves nothing.

Picatinny and M-LOK on one handguard

The AKM polymer handguard carries both attachment systems. Picatinny takes anything with a rail clamp directly. M-LOK is the slotted system that mounts accessories closer to the handguard with less added bulk, using M-LOK-specific hardware. Having both means you are not restricted to one accessory ecosystem, though check which your existing lights and grips use.

Common questions

What is a 45 degree BUIS for? Backup iron sights mounted at 45 degrees sit alongside a primary optic. Rolling the rifle brings them into view instantly, which is the point: you keep the optic and gain a mechanical backup without removing anything.

Will an AR handguard fit an AK? No. The platforms mount differently, which is why Key Arma lists AKM-specific handguards separately.

Is an angled foregrip better than a vertical one? Different, rather than better. Angled grips suit a more natural wrist position for a forward hold. Vertical grips suit a straighter, more locked-in grip. Both mount to Picatinny.

Does the AKM pistol grip fit all AK variants? Most AK-pattern rifles share the grip mounting, though variants exist. Confirm against your specific rifle before ordering.
