403MHz, and why the frequency matters

Sherlo works on 403MHz, while much of the gate automation market here uses 433 or 434MHz. A remote transmits on one frequency and a receiver listens on one frequency, and mismatched equipment simply does not communicate. Lithium backup supplies

Under daily loadshedding a lithium supply generally outlasts a lead acid equivalent by enough to justify the price difference, since the failure mode with lead acid is repeated deep cycling.

Timers and relay boards

These are the parts that make one system talk to another. A relay board lets a low current signal switch a higher current device, such as an alarm output triggering a light. A timer module holds an output on for a set period, which is how a gate light stays on after the gate closes, or how a lock releases for a fixed number of seconds. Neither is exciting and both are what turns separate products into an installation.
