JSB Pellets and Knockout Slugs in South Africa

JSB is Czech made and, among PCP shooters, the pellet most often used as the benchmark others get compared against. The Exact family in particular has a reputation for consistency that holds up at distance, which is why it dominates field target and long range airgun shooting. Start with the test pack

The Diabolo Test Jumbo pack contains seven different weights in small vials, and it exists because barrels have preferences that no specification predicts. Two identical rifles off the same production line can favour different weights. Buying a 500 tin of the wrong one is an expensive way to discover this, so shoot the test pack across your normal distance, find what groups, then buy in bulk. It is the single most useful item in this range for anyone new to JSB.

Slug head sizes

Knockout slugs are stocked in .177, .216, .217, .218 and .251. Those thousandths genuinely matter, since slug fit to your bore determines whether it stabilises or keyholes. Slugs also need adequate power and a suitable twist rate, which in practice means a PCP rather than a springer or a CO2 rifle. Check your barrel before ordering.

Common questions

Why do JSB pellets cost more than Gamo? Tighter weight and dimensional consistency. At 20 metres you will not see it. At 50 metres and beyond, in a rifle capable of showing the difference, you will.

What does RS mean? A lighter version of the Exact Jumbo, at 13.43gr, designed for lower powered rifles that cannot push the heavier weights efficiently.

Beast or Monster, what is the difference? Both are very heavy. Monster Grand sits at 28.55gr and Beast at 33.95gr in .22, so Beast demands even more power behind it. Neither suits a modest rifle.

Is there a JTS product in this range? One item, the JTS Dead Centre, appears here under the JSB vendor. It is a different manufacturer, so treat it as a separate product rather than part of the JSB line.
