What full auto actually costs to run

The A4-P, R1 and DSBR are entertaining and they consume CO2 at a rate that surprises people. A single 12g capsule lasts a fraction of the time it would in a pistol, which is why these ship with ten capsules and 1500 BBs. Budget for consumables as an ongoing cost rather than a one-off, and buy capsules in bulk since they are R9 each.

Buying a combo

Most Crosman entry rifles are available as combos including a scope, and for a first rifle this is the sensible route. The scope supplied is basic rather than exceptional, though it is mounted, zeroed to the platform and adequate to learn on. Upgrading later is straightforward, and you will know by then what you actually want.

Common questions

Do CO2 guns work in winter? They lose velocity as temperature drops, since CO2 pressure falls with cold. On a cold Highveld morning expect noticeably less power than on a summer afternoon. Springers are unaffected.

Why does my CO2 gun leak? Usually a perished seal. Replacement gas capsule seals are stocked and are a cheap fix. Storing the gun with a capsule fitted shortens seal life, so unload after use.

Can I shoot pellets from a BB gun? No. BB guns have smooth bores sized for round steel BBs, and pellets will neither seat nor stabilise. Check what the specific model takes.

Is the Ripcord an airgun? It is airsoft, firing 6mm plastic BBs from an electric gearbox. It sits in the range but belongs to a different sport with different ammunition and different uses.
