This is the LEGENDARY GUERILLA POLICE, a fully functioning replica of the former BRAZILLIAN ARMY standard issue side arm, likewise, a staple of law enforcement here at home as well, in the form of the VEKTOR Z88, which is a licensed copy of the BERETTA 92 as well.
Key Features
- All metal design
- Full blowback, fully functional slide catch (slide catch, catches the slide once the last round in the magazine is expended or if you rack the slide but there are no rounds in the magazine
- Realistic barrel locking block
- Pistol field strips exactly like a TAURUS PT92
- Fires semi-automatic as well as fully-automatic, however, fully automatic on a full magazine, will expend a fresh CO2 capsule completely. The safety lever doubles up as the fire selector.
- Underbarrel WEAVER rail, compatible w/ most PICATINNY-mounted accessories
- SA / DA
- Full sized, all-metal drop-out magazine, 16 shot magazine
- Realistic open sights, very useful
- Realistic weight
The slide is light weighted, though racks surely w/ minimal effort, likewise, produces a very satisfying "snapping sound, as the barrel, and slide, resets back in place after releasing the drawn slide. The cocking serrations are groovy, excuse the pun, featuring a deep-ish cut line of nine slants. Since this is a TAURUS PT92 replica, there is -fortunately- no slide-mounted safety to annoy us when racking the slide. The slide has its BERETTA-esque open-cut top, which does significantly reduce weight, and, we imagine, for lean primed rounds on the firearm counterpart, this would be good news.
The hammer as mentioned, is both SA / DA, although to actually fire this pistol, you'll need to rack the slide first after loading your first magazine, in order to fire the pistol. Also of interest, and special note, is that the safety can and will only engage when the gun is cocked, either by doing so manually or by racking the slide. Trying to budge the slide otherwise, will not work and forcing it, will cause a catastrophic faulure / breakage, which we won't be held liable for.
The Magazine is full sized and weighty, as aforementioned and the 12g CO2 capsule fits inside the magazine via the bottom that is accessable only by removing the plastic grub screw, using the included 1/4" allen key. Please don't use a metric allen key, as you'll strip the hexagonal socket hole out. Tighten only to the extent that the leaking gas via the bottom, ceases. Not more. We recommend holding the magazine horizontal for this purpose.
We also mentioned the realistic field strip, and this is certainly true - press the button on the right face of the pistol through, hold it in, then rotate the lever on the left face of the pistol, from its 3 'o clock position, to its 6 'o clock position, which will then allow you to run the slide off the slide rails and off the pistol.
Our overall impression of this pistol, is overwhelmingly positive. For those who look after their things, follow their instructional manuals and treat things with respect, they will invariably enjoy this pistol, likewise it will yield them years of enjoyment - and self defence!
Would we recommend a pistol like this for self defence? Why not. The full auto mode really makes it well worth it, assuming you can avoid collateral.. Otherwise - and we guarentee you from personal experimentation, that even 320 FPS @ 20 meters will embed a 4.5mm 5.1gr steel shot into exposed skin.
We chronographed one of these pistols ourselves, using a fresh ASG branded 12g CO2 cartridge, and scored the following;
- 485.8
- 524.6
- 305.2
- 339.8
- 340.7
- 334.8
- 338.3
- 338.5
- 335.2
- 331.6
- 332.5
- 326.6
- 324.8
- 328.6
This averages in 356.21 FPS, using 5.4 gr steel shot, which got us 1.52 FPE / 2.06 Joule, which really isn't shabby. Always be duly aware of manufacturer's claims and go only on actual tested results, then decide for yourself.
