This battery box requires 6 AA batteries and is designed for compatibility with a variety of two-way radios, including Baofeng UV-5R, UV-5R+Plus, UV-5RB, UV-5RE, UV-5RE+Plus, TH-F8, TH-UVF9, TH-F8D, and TH-UVF9D. However, it is not compatible with Baofeng UV-5RA, UV-5RA+Plus, or UV-5RC models.
The device is intended for use with 6 NiMh AA batteries, delivering 7.2V to the radio. If using alkaline or zinc-carbon AA batteries, only 5 batteries should be used, along with a dummy AA battery, to achieve an appropriate output voltage of 7.5V. Using 6 alkaline or zinc-carbon batteries would result in a voltage of 9V, which could prevent the radio from transmitting.
