Two light sources sit in one head on the Nextorch WL50IR, and they are meant for two entirely different conditions. A CREE XP LED produces up to 860 lumens of white light for anything that needs to be seen with the naked eye, and a separate 850 nanometre infrared LED rated at 400 milliwatts covers work done through night vision equipment, where white light is either useless or actively counterproductive.
White output runs at 860, 330 and 140 lumens, with runtimes of 1 hour 30 minutes, 2 hours 30 minutes and 5 hours 30 minutes respectively. The infrared channel runs for 4 hours at 400 milliwatts. Maximum beam distance is 290 metres. Power comes from either two CR123A cells or a single 18650, which is a useful pairing: the 18650 is the economical rechargeable option and CR123A cells store for years and work in the cold.
It fits all standard Picatinny rails. The body is aerospace aluminium alloy 6061-T6 with a Type III hard anodised finish, listed dimensions of 159 by 40 by 42 millimetres, and a weight of 235 grams before batteries. Impact resistance is rated to 1 metre and water resistance to IPX-7, which covers immersion to 1 metre rather than a passing splash.
White and infrared are not alternatives to one another. Infrared at 850 nanometres is invisible to the naked eye and only useful through night vision equipment, while white light is the opposite. Building both into one head with independent outputs means the same unit covers both conditions without swapping hardware on the rail.
