Nextorch TA30 MAX Tactical Flashlight, 2100 Lumens
Most tactical torches ask you to learn a switch. Half press for one thing, full press for another, double click for a third, and all of it forgotten under pressure. The TA30 MAX takes a different route with a patented one step strobe: tap the switch for momentary on, press it hard for tactical strobe. There is no sequence to remember because the pressure itself is the instruction.
What the TA30 MAX produces
A CREE XHP50.2 emitter delivers three levels plus strobe: 70 lumens reaching 45 metres for 23 hours, 380 lumens reaching 100 metres for 6 hours, and 2100 lumens reaching 250 metres for 2 hours 30 minutes. Power comes from a single 21700 lithium ion cell rated 5000 mAh, which is what makes 23 hours at the low setting realistic rather than theoretical.
The tail cap and the bezel
A rotational magnetic switch runs around the tail cap, so modes change with a twist that can be done one handed without moving your grip. The bezel is a specially hardened nano ceramic breach design, intended to break glass in an emergency. That is a genuinely useful feature in a vehicle, where a torch is already the thing most likely to be within reach when a window needs to go.
Build, sealing and standing
The body is aerospace aluminium alloy 6061-T6 with a hard anodised finish, 153 millimetres long with a 28 millimetre body and a 38 millimetre head, weighing 148 grams before the battery. It is rated impact resistant to 2 metres and sealed to IPX8 at 2 metres. It also tail stands, turning it into a candle style area light when pointed at a ceiling.
Reading the runtimes
The three runtimes are the honest guide to how this torch is used. Two and a half hours at 2100 lumens is a working evening. Six hours at 380 lumens covers a full night shift. Twenty three hours at 70 lumens is the setting that keeps the torch useful for days once the job becomes waiting rather than searching.
