Nebo Transcend 3000 Headlamp: 3000 lumens, and the lamp comes off the strap to become a magnetic work light
The Transcend 3000 is a headlamp that does not stay a headlamp. The lamp unit detaches from the headband and carries a magnetic base, so it goes straight onto a bonnet, a machine housing, a distribution board or a length of structural steel and keeps working with nobody wearing it. That single feature covers the awkward middle ground between wanting light on your head and wanting it pointed at the thing you are working on.
Why detaching matters
A head mounted light always shines where you look, which sounds ideal and is not. Working inside an engine bay, under a dashboard or in a cabinet, your head is often at an angle to the work and the beam falls short of where your hands are. Worse, anyone facing you gets it in the eyes every time you glance up.
Taking the lamp off and sticking it where the work is fixes both. The light stays aimed at the job while you move, and you can put your face into a confined space without your own lamp casting the shadow you are trying to see past.
Transcend 3000 output and runtime
Turbo produces 3000 lumens to 223 metres in 30 second intervals. High holds 1500 lumens to 149 metres for 2 hours, which is a very large amount of sustained output for a head mounted unit. Medium runs 750 lumens to 107 metres for 4.5 hours. Low gives 50 lumens to 31 metres and lasts 45 hours. A strobe mode is included.
Forty five hours on low is the number that makes this practical rather than merely impressive. Fifty lumens is enough to work by at arm's length, and nearly two days of it means the lamp survives a long job, a multi day trip or an extended outage on one charge.
Controls and the hard hat clips
A rotary mode selector dial handles mode choice, with dedicated push buttons alongside it, so selecting a setting does not mean cycling through everything else first. A power lockout disables the lamp entirely for storage and transport, which matters on a unit that can produce 3000 lumens inside a bag.
Four hard hat mounting clips are supplied, and they have pen and marker holders built into them. That is a small detail with a clear author: somebody who has actually worn a hard hat while trying to keep a marker somewhere findable. It signals who this lamp is aimed at more honestly than any amount of specification does.
Smart Power Control
SPC balances output against the charge that is left, so the lamp holds its stated brightness instead of fading steadily from the moment it is switched on. On a headlamp that matters more than on a torch, because you are not looking at the light source and will not notice a gradual decline until you are working in considerably less light than you thought you had.
Fit and adjustment
The headband is adjustable and reflective, with an optional top strap for jobs where the lamp needs to stay put through movement. The lamp head tilts through 180 degrees, so the beam can be aimed at your feet, straight ahead, or up at a ceiling without moving your neck. The whole assembly weighs 184 grams.
Where it is aimed
Nebo lists emergency services, industrial work, vehicle maintenance, outdoor use and professional trades, and the hardware backs that up rather than merely describing it. The hard hat clips, the power lockout, the IPX7 rating and the detachable magnetic head are all features that answer to a working environment rather than to a specification sheet. Anyone wanting a light headlamp for trail running is looking at a different product.
Power and build
A 4000 mAh 21700 lithium ion cell at 3.7 V and 14.8 Wh supplies it, charged over USB-C, with an LED battery indicator showing both remaining charge and charging status. The housing is anodised aircraft grade aluminium rated IPX7, meaning it survives immersion rather than just rain, and the lamp measures 107 by 40 by 30 millimetres.
