The Torchy 2K is built around a specific idea, which is that a torch you carry every day should behave sensibly when you switch it on and should not need charging every week. It weighs 113 grams, measures 108 millimetres, starts on low rather than full output, and runs 30 hours on its lowest setting.
These two features solve opposite halves of the same problem. Direct-to-Low means the torch comes on at 35 lumens rather than blinding you when you switch it on in a dark room or beside somebody's face. Power Memory Recall means that once you have chosen a different setting, the torch returns to it next time rather than resetting.
The result is a torch that is gentle by default but remembers what you actually use it for. Left alone it stays polite. Set to Medium for a week of dog walks and it stays on Medium.
Turbo gives 2000 lumens to 200 metres in 30 second intervals. High runs 500 lumens to 90 metres for 3.5 hours. Medium holds 200 lumens to 50 metres for 6 hours. Low provides 35 lumens to 25 metres for 30 hours. Strobe runs at 1000 lumens to 125 metres for 2.5 hours.
Smart Power Control manages output against remaining charge, so those runtimes hold rather than tailing off from the moment the torch is switched on.
A removable steel clip takes it on a belt or in a pocket, and removing it leaves a plain tube for a bag or a glovebox. The housing is anodised aircraft grade aluminium, water and impact resistant, and the side button carries the charging indicator. Power comes from a 2200 mAh 18650 lithium ion cell.
