One mile of beam is the claim, and it is the only number that really matters here. The Nebo Luxtreme SL100 produces an ultra long laser style beam rated to reach roughly 1.6 kilometres, which puts it in a different category to any general purpose torch. This is a light for identifying something at the far edge of a property, across water, or down a valley, rather than for lighting the ground in front of your feet.
The narrow, coherent beam it produces is built for distance rather than spread, so it excels at scanning and identifying and is poorly suited to close work. Farmers checking stock and fence lines, boat owners picking out markers and moorings, security personnel covering open ground and hunters glassing terrain are the obvious users, which is why it is described as suited to both outdoor and professional use.
Despite the reach, the housing is compact and rugged rather than the bulky spotlight body this performance used to require, so it stows in a hatch, a cubbyhole or a day pack. It is rated IP67, covering full dust protection and temporary immersion in water, and it charges over USB-C from the same cable as everything else you carry. There is no proprietary charger to lose and no disposable cells to replace.
