Most torches have one distance setting and a series of shorter ones. The Luxtreme 500 does not work that way. High reaches 900 metres, Medium reaches 636, and even the 50 lumen Low setting still throws 201 metres, which is further than a great many torches manage running flat out.
It means you can work at long range without emptying the battery. Scanning a fence line, a paddock, a shoreline or a perimeter is a job that takes time, and doing it on full output limits you to 3 hours. Medium gives 636 metres for 6 hours, and Low still covers 201 metres for 15. The torch lets you match the setting to the distance rather than choosing between reach and endurance.
Five hundred lumens sounds modest until you see where it lands. This is a focused instrument rather than a bright one, and the entire optical design is pointed at throwing light a long way rather than filling a space with it.
High gives 500 lumens to 900 metres for 3 hours. Medium provides 250 lumens to 636 metres for 6 hours. Low runs 50 lumens to 201 metres for 15 hours. Strobe sits at 400 lumens and 805 metres for 4 hours. Direct-to-Low startup brings the torch on gently, and Smart Power Control keeps output consistent against the remaining charge instead of letting it sag.
The body is anodised aircraft grade aluminium in Storm Grey, rated IP66 against dust and water with a 1 metre impact rating. A single side button handles power and modes. Power comes from an included 21700 lithium ion cell of 4000 mAh, charged over USB-C in about 4.5 hours. It weighs 362 grams and measures 200 by 60 by 60 millimetres.
