Zoom is a divisive feature in flashlights. Done badly it produces a bright square with dark corners and a beam that changes colour as you slide it. Done properly it lets one torch do the work of two, and the Nebo Davinci pairs a 4x adjustable zoom with an output figure high enough that both ends of the zoom range remain useful rather than one being a compromise.
Turbo produces 8000 lumens reaching 206 metres in 30 second bursts. High gives 4000 lumens for 3.5 hours reaching 157 metres. Medium runs 2000 lumens for 6 hours reaching 119 metres. Low drops to 80 lumens and runs for 45 hours reaching 25 metres. A strobe is available at 8000 lumens for 3.5 hours. The spread from 8000 down to 80 is the useful part: the top end identifies something at the far end of a property, and the bottom end will light a tent, a room or a walk to a gate for the better part of two days.
Modes are selected with a magnetic dial rather than a button sequence. The practical difference is that you can see and feel which setting you are on before you switch the light on, and you can move directly to the one you want instead of cycling through 8000 lumens to reach 80. Direct to low supports the same idea. Smart Power Control manages consumption to hold the stated runtimes, and Smart Temperature Control manages the heat that inevitably comes with an eight thousand lumen emitter, keeping output stable rather than letting the light run hot and fade without warning.
Two 26650 lithium ion cells rated 5000 mAh at 7.4 volts sit behind those runtimes, and the torch doubles as a power bank. That is why the specification adds up to 527 grams. In a power cut, on a long weekend away or in a vehicle, a torch that will also put a charge into a phone stops being a torch and starts being part of the emergency kit. The body is anodised aircraft grade aluminium and the rating is IP67, covering full dust protection and temporary immersion in water.
This is a light for people who want reach and flood from one tool and do not mind carrying half a kilogram to get it: farm and smallholding owners, camping and overlanding, security work, and anyone who wants a single light in the vehicle that covers everything from a puncture at the roadside to checking a fence line at two in the morning. If you want something pocketable, look at a penlight or a compact torch instead. This one is built to be the most capable light in the house.
