Nebo Big Larry 3 RC Stealth Rechargeable Work Light, 600 Lumens
The original Big Larry solved a problem nobody had properly named: torches point forward, but most work happens in a pool of light around your hands. Bolting a COB panel to the side of a torch body fixed that, and the format has been copied endlessly since. This is the third generation of the idea, rechargeable over USB-C, finished in stealth black, and with a red mode set that is far more useful than it first appears.
What the Big Larry 3 gives you at each setting
As a flashlight, the head runs 220 lumens on high for 8 hours reaching 82 metres, and 60 lumens on low for 24 hours reaching 50 metres. As a work light, the COB panel runs 600 lumens on white high for 2.5 hours across roughly 33 metres, and 150 lumens on white low for 14.5 hours. The red channel gives 40 lumens on high for 20 hours, 12 lumens on low for 32 hours, and a 40 lumen red strobe that runs for 40 hours. Power comes from a single rechargeable 18650 lithium ion cell rated 3.7 volts and 2200 mAh.
The red modes are the underrated part
Red light does two things white light cannot. It preserves dark adapted vision, so you can check a chart, a gauge or a sleeping tent and still see properly when you look away. It also draws far less current, which is why the red settings run for 20 and 32 hours where white high lasts 2.5. The red strobe at 40 hours is a roadside marker in a torch you already own. If you break down after dark on a national road, that single mode is worth more than every lumen the light produces.
Magnetic base, clip and grip
The magnetic base is strong enough to hold the light on a vertical steel surface, which is where it spends most of its working life: a bonnet, a chassis rail, a workshop bench leg, a distribution board, a gate post. A steel belt and pocket clip handles the times there is nothing ferrous to grab, and the body has an ergonomic non slip grip that still works with wet or oily hands. That last detail sounds like packaging language until you have tried to hold a smooth aluminium tube while changing a tyre in the rain.
Size, weight and what it survives
The body measures 197 millimetres high by 25 millimetres wide with a 32 millimetre diameter, and it weighs 191 grams. That is a comfortable one hand size that still stands upright on its base. The rating is IPX4, which covers splashing water from any direction: rain, spray, a wet workshop floor. It is not a diving light, and at this price and format that is the right boundary. A protective housing shields the LED panel from the knocks that would otherwise scratch or crack an exposed COB strip.
Charging and where it lives
Charging is USB-C, so the cable is the one already in the vehicle and the office rather than something specific to this product. In practice this is a vehicle light, a camping light and a load shedding light in one body: bright enough to work under a bonnet, long running enough on low to light a kitchen counter for an entire evening outage, and small enough to keep in a cubbyhole permanently. Keep it charged and it becomes the light everyone in the house goes looking for.
Runtime arithmetic for a two hour outage
The runtimes are easier to judge against a real evening. A typical scheduled outage runs two to four hours. White high at 600 lumens covers 2.5 hours, which is enough for one full slot but leaves nothing spare. White low at 150 lumens runs 14.5 hours, which covers a week of evenings on one charge and is more than adequate for a kitchen counter or a dinner table. The flashlight head on low gives 24 hours and reaches 50 metres, which is the setting for walking outside to a gate or a generator. Plan around the low settings and this light simply does not run out.
