Anniversary editions in this range mostly celebrate the flagships. The T2 is the opposite of that, a small two mode torch running on AAA cells that costs a fraction of the rest and does one job properly. Putting a warranty extendable to 25 years on it is the genuinely interesting decision here, because of what it implies about what this torch is expected to outlive.
A rechargeable torch has a consumable sitting at its heart. The cell ages whether it gets used or not, and after a decade its capacity is a fraction of what it started with. The T2 has no built in cell. It takes three AAA batteries that you replace when they run down, which means every component in the torch either lasts indefinitely or is not there at all. That is the context in which a 25 year warranty makes sense rather than reading as a marketing line.
Power gives 240 lumens to 180 metres for about 4 hours. Low Power drops to 25 lumens and 60 metres and runs for up to 25 hours. There is no boost, no strobe and no selector ring, and on a torch this size those omissions are correct. Two settings can be learned in a second and chosen in the dark without thought. A pocket torch with eight modes is a pocket torch you cycle through hunting for the one you actually wanted.
The low mode matters more on a torch like this than the headline number does. Twenty five lumens is plenty for reading, for finding your way around a house or a tent, and for anything at arm's length, and 25 hours of it means one set of cells covers a week of ordinary evening use. Because they are standard alkalines, three spares fit in a pocket and weigh nothing worth counting.
Three cells in series give the voltage headroom to drive 240 lumens, which a single AA would struggle to manage without a boost circuit behind it. It also means the torch carries more total energy than its size suggests, which is where 25 hours of low output comes from. AAA is the smallest format worth building around and sits on the same shelf as AA everywhere they are sold.
One hundred and eighty metres of reach from a 115 millimetre torch is more than the proportions suggest, and it comes from a tight reflector rather than brute output. In practice that covers the far end of a garden, a driveway, a yard or a farm shed from the doorway, which is the realistic upper limit of what anyone asks a pocket torch to do.
The body is 115 millimetres long and 25 millimetres across, weighing 98 grams with cells fitted. It is a straight tube with no flare at the head, so it slides flat into a pocket instead of catching on the way in and out. Operation is a non slip end cap switch worked with the thumb, and an adjustable hand strap is supplied alongside the batteries.
This is a glovebox, handbag, drawer or jacket torch rather than a working tool. It suits anyone who wants a dependable light present without having to think about it, and it suits being given as a gift, which is presumably part of what an anniversary edition is for in the first place. Anyone needing sustained high output, real waterproofing or serious reach is looking at the wrong end of the range.
The Dark Blue anodising is exclusive to the anniversary edition and is its visible marker. Underneath sits an aluminium alloy body rated IP56, covering dust and water jets rather than immersion, with a 1 metre drop rating and an operating range from minus 20 to plus 40 degrees Celsius. The emitter is a high power LED running 6000 to 8000 K with CRI 70.
