Ledlenser's T2 25th Anniversary Edition Flashlight: 240 lumens, three AAA cells and a 25 year warranty
Anniversary editions in this range mostly celebrate the flagships. The T2 is the opposite of that, a small two mode torch running on AAA cells that costs a fraction of the rest and does one job properly. Putting a warranty extendable to 25 years on it is the genuinely interesting decision here, because of what it implies about what this torch is expected to outlive.
Nothing in it degrades
A rechargeable torch has a consumable sitting at its heart. The cell ages whether it gets used or not, and after a decade its capacity is a fraction of what it started with. The T2 has no built in cell. It takes three AAA batteries that you replace when they run down, which means every component in the torch either lasts indefinitely or is not there at all. Why the T2 carries only two modes
Power gives 240 lumens to 180 metres for about 4 hours. Low Power drops to 25 lumens and 60 metres and runs for up to 25 hours. There is no boost, no strobe and no selector ring, and on a torch this size those omissions are correct. Two settings can be learned in a second and chosen in the dark without thought. A pocket torch with eight modes is a pocket torch you cycle through hunting for the one you actually wanted.
Twenty five hours on the low setting
The low mode matters more on a torch like this than the headline number does. Twenty five lumens is plenty for reading, for finding your way around a house or a tent, and for anything at arm's length, and 25 hours of it means one set of cells covers a week of ordinary evening use. Because they are standard alkalines, three spares fit in a pocket and weigh nothing worth counting.
Three AAA cells rather than one AA

The body is 115 millimetres long and 25 millimetres across, weighing 98 grams with cells fitted. It is a straight tube with no flare at the head, so it slides flat into a pocket instead of catching on the way in and out. Operation is a non slip end cap switch worked with the thumb, and an adjustable hand strap is supplied alongside the batteries.
