Output per gram is the honest way to compare torches, and the Ledlenser P7R Signature flashlight wins that comparison across this range. Two thousand five hundred lumens and 340 metres of reach come from a body 159 millimetres long weighing 197 grams with its battery in place. Nothing else here approaches that ratio.
Two things make it possible. The first is the 21700 cell format, which holds substantially more energy than an 18650 in a tube barely wider, so the torch gains capacity without gaining girth. The second is the head, at 35 millimetres narrow for the output it produces, which keeps weight down and leans on the Advanced Focus System to earn the reach through focusing rather than aperture.
The practical result is a torch producing genuinely serious light that still rides in a jacket pocket or a belt pouch without dragging on it.
It helps to put the figure in context. Around 250 grams is where most torches of this output land once a large cell and a substantial head are accounted for. Coming in at 197 grams is not a marginal saving. It is the difference between a torch that gets carried and one that stays in the vehicle.
Four brightness levels plus Boost are chosen on a ring around the head instead of by cycling a button. You set what you want before switching on, so the torch cannot jump to 2500 lumens at the moment you wanted 25, and the ring can be worked by feel with gloves on. A Transportation Lock position on the same ring renders the torch inert for storage.
Boost hits 2500 lumens and 340 metres. Power holds 1400 lumens to 260 metres for about 2.5 hours. Mid Power gives 500 lumens to 160 metres for roughly 5.5 hours. Low Power drops to 25 lumens and 35 metres, running for as long as 80 hours. That bottom figure is what makes it viable as a multi day torch rather than a single shift one.
Ledlenser applies the Signature label to the upper specification within a model line, and on this one it buys two things beyond the finish. Output rises from 2000 lumens on the Pro to 2500, and reach extends from 320 metres to 340. Neither is transformative alone. Taken together with the charging station and the charcoal housing, they make this the version to buy if the torch will be used daily for years rather than kept for occasional jobs.
The 21700 Li-ion cell reaches full charge in about 3 hours, either over USB-C directly or through the dedicated Type D charging station included in the box. A pouch, a USB-C cable and an adjustable hand strap are supplied with it.
The Advanced Focus System moves the beam from spot to flood continuously, with no fixed detents to work through. Pushed out, the full 340 metres is available. Pulled in, the same output becomes a broad wall of light for a room or a work area. The transition is smooth enough to adjust mid task without stopping what you are doing.
The Signature version comes in charcoal aluminium with a red accent ring, built from 75 percent recycled material. Protection is IP68, dust tight and submersible, with a 2 metre drop rating and an operating range from minus 20 to plus 40 degrees Celsius. Battery status indicators, flicker free output and a Temperature Control System complete the specification.
