Five hundred and sixty metres is the number that defines this torch. That is more than half a kilometre of usable beam, far enough to read a fence line across a large property, identify movement at the far edge of a yard, or sweep a section of open ground from a fixed position. The Ledlenser P17R Core is built around that reach, and everything about its format follows from it.
Reach and the output ladder
Boost mode produces 1200 lumens and the full 560 metre throw. Beneath it, Power holds 900 lumens to 420 metres for roughly 2 hours, Mid Power gives 350 lumens to 270 metres for around 12 hours, and Low Power drops to 15 lumens and 50 metres while running as long as 200 hours.
That bottom setting is worth attention. Two hundred hours means a torch left in a vehicle or on a duty belt stays useful for weeks of intermittent low level work without a charge, while the top end remains available the moment something needs identifying at distance.
The patented Advanced Focus System moves the beam between wide flood for area illumination and tight spot for maximum range. Focus Lock holds your chosen setting so the beam cannot drift or be knocked out of position during use, which matters when a torch is being handled hard rather than carried carefully.
Controls built for working conditions
The Fast Action Switch is positioned and shaped for quick operation without looking at the torch. Smart Light Technology allows the lighting functions to be customised through button combinations, so the modes you actually need sit where you can reach them.

Safety Ytrion Cell and charging
Power comes from Ledlenser's Safety Ytrion Cell, a battery chemistry chosen for longevity, fast charging and improved safety over conventional lithium cells. For equipment that lives in a vehicle through a South African summer and gets cycled daily, thermal stability and cycle life matter more than headline capacity.
A full charge takes approximately 270 minutes through the Magnetic Charge System. The included charging station doubles as a wall mount, so the torch has a fixed home where it charges between shifts. Format and durability
