Two features define the NEO9R, and both point at the same kind of user. It produces 1200 lumens with a 200 metre reach, which is enough to run technical ground at pace rather than picking your way through it. And its battery lifts out and swaps, which means a long night does not have to end when the charge does. Together they describe a lamp built for people whose nights out are measured in hours rather than minutes.
Nearly every rechargeable headlamp seals its cell inside the housing. That keeps the design tidy and the seal simple, and it hands you a hard limit: when the charge is gone, the lamp is finished until you find power.
The NEO9R uses a removable 5000 mAh Li-ion pack rated 18.5 Wh at 3.7V. Carry a spare and there is no limit at all. Swap it at a checkpoint or on the move and continue. It also means the lamp outlives its battery, since cells degrade with cycling and a replaceable one is a consumable rather than the end of the product.
A full charge takes about 330 minutes through the Magnetic Charge System, and integrated status indicators show what is left. Backup Mode reserves roughly an hour of usable output after the main capacity is spent.
Boost reaches 1200 lumens and 200 metres. Below that, Power gives 600 lumens to 120 metres for around 5 hours, Mid Power gives 200 lumens to 60 metres for around 12 hours, and Low Power runs 20 lumens for up to 120 hours.
Multiple Xtreme high power LEDs feed Fusion Beam Technology, which runs a wide even flood and a focused spot together rather than making you choose. Close ground and distant obstacles stay visible simultaneously, which is the whole point when the terrain is technical and you are moving quickly. The LEDs are rated 5200 to 6200 K with CRI 70.
Total weight is 199 grams with the battery or 106 grams without. Mounting the pack at the rear balances that mass front to back rather than loading it all above your eyes.
A removable overhead stability strap adds a third point of contact for rough ground, and a chest belt is supplied for those who prefer the light mounted lower. The lamp head tilts across 45 degrees to set beam angle.
A reflective headband and a red rear light with flashing modes cover visibility from behind and the sides. Temperature Control keeps output reliable during sustained high draw, and a Transportation Lock prevents the lamp waking up in transit.
The housing and lens are polycarbonate with a 57 mm head, rated IP54 against dust and water, drop tested to 2 metres and rated from -20°C to +40°C. This is the Black and Blue finish; the same lamp is offered in Black and Grey.
