Ledlenser H7R Core Headlamp: 1000 lumens, wheel controlled dimming and IP67 waterproof protection
The H7R Core is the point in Ledlenser's H-Series where a headlamp stops being camping equipment and starts being work equipment. It produces up to 1000 lumens in Boost with a beam reaching 250 metres, it is sealed to IP67, and it is built around a control system designed for people who adjust their light constantly rather than setting it once and forgetting it.
The Wheel Switch
Instead of cycling through fixed brightness steps with repeated button presses, the H7R Core uses a wheel on the lamp head. Roll it and the output moves steplessly through its range. You land on the exact brightness you want in one movement, and you can do it by feel without looking at anything.
This matters more in practice than it reads on paper. On a work site or a night walk, lighting needs change every few minutes, and a lamp that requires four presses to get back to a low setting is a lamp people leave on maximum, burning through battery and blinding whoever they turn to face. A wheel removes that friction entirely.
Advanced Focus System and Flex Sealing
Ledlenser's patented Advanced Focus System moves the beam between a broad flood for close work and a tight spot for distance. Focusing mechanisms are normally where waterproof headlamps leak, because the lens assembly has to move while the housing stays sealed. Flex Sealing Technology is Ledlenser's answer, maintaining the dust and water rating throughout the full focus travel rather than only when the lamp sits at one end of its range.
That is what allows the IP67 rating to stand up in real use. IP67 means dust tight and able to survive temporary immersion, not just resist a shower, so the H7R Core handles heavy rain, a dropped lamp in a puddle and washing off site grime under a tap.
21700 battery and 65 hour runtime
A high capacity 4800 mAh 21700 Li-ion cell supplies the lamp. On Low Power at 15 lumens it runs for up to 65 hours, and on Power mode at 600 lumens expect around 4 hours. Recharging uses the Magnetic Charge System and takes roughly 210 minutes, about three and a half hours, without removing the battery from the housing.
The magnetic connection is a durability decision as much as a convenience one. There is no port flap to perish, split or get left open, which is a common failure point on sealed lamps after a couple of seasons.
Positioning and practical features
The lamp head rotates through 130 degrees, a notably wide arc that lets you aim light almost directly downward for close detail work. A Memory Function returns the lamp to the mode you last used rather than restarting at a default. Flicker-Free illumination keeps the light steady, which reduces eye fatigue over long sessions and avoids problems when filming. Backup Mode preserves usable light as the battery depletes instead of cutting out abruptly, and Cooling and Temperature Control Systems hold output steady as the lamp warms up under sustained high draw. A Transportation Lock prevents accidental activation, and battery and charge indicators keep you informed.
Build and fit
The housing is aluminium, weighing 259 grams with the battery and rated for a 1.5 metre drop. The headband is adjustable for comfort across long shifts. A rechargeable battery and magnetic charging cable are supplied in the box.
