Cordless work lights have one weakness, which is that the battery decides when the job ends. Corded lights have a different one, which is that they only work where the cable reaches. The AF8R refuses the choice. Hybrid Power means it runs from the internal battery, runs from the mains, and recharges while it is running, so a light that has been plugged in all morning is at full charge the moment you need to unplug it and walk somewhere else.
The practical effect is that you stop rationing. Nobody drops a cordless light to a lower setting to preserve battery when the light is plugged into a wall, so you work at the output the task actually needs. When the work moves, you pick it up mid job and keep going with a full pack behind you. The 4700 mAh 10.8 V battery takes about 6 hours to charge from flat, but that number stops mattering much once the light is spending its idle time on mains.
Five colour temperatures between 3000 K and 6500 K, combined with a CRI of 80, make this a light you can judge colour under. Painters checking coverage, panel beaters matching a repair, cabinetmakers reading grain and stain, and anyone doing final inspection all run into the same trap, which is work that looks correct under cheap blue tinted site lighting and wrong in daylight the next morning. Setting the temperature close to the light the work will finally be seen in removes most of that risk.
Full output is 4000 lumens reaching up to 95 metres for around 1.5 hours. From there it steps down to 3200 lumens for 2.25 hours, 2300 lumens for 3.25 hours, 1600 lumens for about 5 hours, and 500 lumens for up to 14 hours. The useful observation is that 1600 lumens is already more light than most interior tasks require, and it runs a full working day.
The AF8R comes in at 1870 grams with its battery and around 1650 grams without it. That split is worth noticing, because it means roughly 220 grams is the power source and everything else is housing, optics and thermal mass. A light built that way holds its output steady instead of fading after ten minutes under load, and the aluminium body doubles as the heatsink rather than relying on vents that would compromise the IP67 rating.
Multi Concentrated Light Technology directs output where it is aimed instead of scattering it, which keeps light on the work and out of your eyes. The removable diffuser goes on when the light sits close to the surface you are working on, spreading it evenly rather than producing a bright hotspot surrounded by shadow. Between the two, the AF8R stays comfortable to work under for hours, which is a different requirement from being bright.
The body measures 275 by 179 by 41 millimetres, slim enough to slide in beside other gear, and weighs 1870 grams with the battery. An integrated magnet grips steel, the fold out stand adjusts to angle the beam, and a standard quarter inch tripod thread takes it up to height. Setting it above head level and aiming down is usually the fastest way to remove shadows from a work area entirely.
Chemical resistant aluminium housing, IP67 dust and water protection, 1.5 metre drop resistance and an operating range from minus 20 to plus 40 degrees Celsius. Temperature Control and Cooling Technology keeps output stable under sustained use, the Memory Function returns to your last setting, and an optional Bluetooth controller adds remote operation for lights mounted out of reach.
