Ledlenser AF2R Work Floodlight: 1000 lumens, 35 hours of runtime and six ways to fix it to the job
Most work lights are designed to be put down. This one is designed to be attached. It carries a magnet, a rubber hanging hook, hook and loop straps, and screw and nail holes machined into the body, which between them cover almost anything you might want to hang, strap or bolt a light onto. At 248 millimetres long, 38 wide and 332 grams, it is closer to a slim bar than a panel, and that shape is what makes all of those mounting options usable rather than theoretical.
Six ways to mount it
The magnet handles steel, which covers distribution boards, machine housings, vehicle panels, racking and the underside of a bonnet. The rubber hook takes anywhere there is a bar, a beam or a rung to hang from. The hook and loop straps wrap around pipework, scaffold tube and conduit, the round surfaces that defeat both of the first two. And when a light needs to stay put for weeks rather than hours, the screw and nail holes fix it to a wall or a joist permanently.
The reason this matters is simple enough. A work light on the floor lights the floor and throws your shadow over everything above it. A work light fixed at head height and aimed at the job keeps both hands free and your body out of the beam for the whole task, rather than until the next time you move.
The 20 centimetre ruler
There is a metal ruler built into the body. It is a small detail and it tells you precisely who this light was designed for. Nobody puts a ruler on a camping lantern. This is a tool for inspection, first fix, fault finding and installation work, where you are already holding the light and the alternative is setting it down to go and find a tape measure.

Full power gives 1000 lumens to about 45 metres for roughly 1.75 hours. The middle setting halves that to 500 lumens and 25 metres for around 4.5 hours, and the low setting drops to 50 lumens and 10 metres but runs for up to 35 hours. Five white levels are available in total, so you are not restricted to those three points.
Thirty five hours is the figure worth sitting with. Fifty lumens sounds like nothing, but fixed a metre from what you are doing it is entirely adequate, and it means the light can run for the length of a job without anyone thinking about it. The 4800 mAh cell charges over USB-C in about 6.5 hours, and battery and charge level indicators tell you where you stand before you start rather than after the light goes out.
Red light, including a flashing mode
The red channel offers several brightness levels and a blink function. Steady red preserves dark adaptation, useful at night or in a space you need to keep dim for other people. The flashing mode is a different tool altogether. Hung on a vehicle, a gate, a trailing cable or an open hatch, it marks a hazard rather than lighting one, and it will do that for hours without touching the white output.
Where the IP54 rating draws the line
This is worth being straight about. IP54 means protected against dust and splashing water, which covers workshops, interiors, vehicle bays, light rain and ordinary site dirt. It is not submersible and it does not match the IP67 rating on the larger AF series lights. If the work is genuinely wet, outdoor and exposed, look further up the range. For everything under a roof, IP54 is the right amount of sealing, and it is part of why this one weighs 332 grams instead of over a kilogram.
Build
The housing is aluminium with shock resistant protective elements at the corners most likely to take an impact, rated for a 1.5 metre drop and specified from minus 20 to plus 40 degrees Celsius. A Temperature Control System holds output steady and a Transportation Lock stops it switching itself on in a bag. Colour temperature sits at 6000 to 7000 K, a cool white, with CRI 80 rendering for work where colours have to read correctly.
