Product Description
The colour applicable here, is the varying laminate shades of blue sparsed w/ beige. Once we have more pictures of the rifle w/ the proper stock colouring available, we'll replace these. We do apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime. If you would however, like pictures of the actual rifle, please contact us.
This rifle is dimensionally identical to the previous iteration of the NOVA STAR, but the inclusion of the regulator here, adds some length to the bottle. You'll note that the aluminium extension part that the carbon fibre bottle threads onto, has its own dedicated (HATSAN branded) guage, which is adjusted via the sliver of the dial interface sunk in beneath the regulator housing. Please use the supplied tool to externally adjust the regulator if desired and moreover, (NB!), make sure never to de-tune the regulator while it is filled. Follow the procedures in the instruction manual supplied carefully prior to making adjustments, as it is quite possible to bugger up the regulator if you just start tuning it.
The feel of the stock is sleek, finely polished, in some contrast to the previous NOVA STAR w/ the Turkish wallnut stock that had some fine beards along the grainline.
Taking aim:
The cheek comb on the stock is steplessly adjustable via the two large flat drive screws on the rear of the stock which is ambidextrous. The buttplate can extend outward for longer limbed shooters w/ greater upper bodily proportions.
The rifle is not equiped out of the box w/ open sights of any kind, but does feature a weaver / broken dovetail rail. The rear section measures in 125mm whereas the frontal part measures 50mm. The magazine breech splits the top part of the action, separating the rail as indicated. We recommend the use of the weaver rail, as this will allow you your mount rings a thorough purchase on the action. Moreover, you'll have the cross-bolt slots at your disposal. Thanks to the 23" barrel, you'll be able to get the sort of long, albeit loopy ballistic trajectory that works well w/ high scope mount rings. The adjustable cheekpiece as well as the ample rail space behind the breech will be your friend here. The barrel as we understand
The scallop trigger is thinly gold plated (not yellow passivated or zinc) and has a refreshingly crisp pull to it. As indicated below, you can adjust the
The trigger here as you might have guessed, is a PCP Quattro trigger (3 stage adjustable, and for reference, we'll add an exerpt from HATSAN USA, for understanding it, if it is unfamiliar to you;
"
Hatsan’s Quattro trigger is one of the most sophisticated airgun triggers on the market today. It has 3 user-adjustable settings via 3 adjustment screws. Starting from the front of the rifle:
Adjuster #1: Closest screw to the muzzle. This screw sets the initial depth of sear engagement, or overall trigger travel.
Adjuster #2: Middle screw. This screw sets the point at which your 2nd stage engages.
Adjuster #3: Rear screw. This screw adjusts the final pull weight of the trigger. DO NOT over-adjust this screw, as there must be enough spring pressure to set the sear when cocking your gun!
PCP (Pre-Charged Pneumatic)
Adjuster #1 can be turned clockwise to reduce initial sear engagement (overall trigger travel); however, it is possible to adjust this to a point at which the sear will not set or will not reliably remain set. If you experience a failure to cock or a failure to remain cocked, turn this adjuster counter-clockwise ¼ turn and test again.
Adjuster #2 will set the engagement point for your 2nd stage. Clockwise will move the engagement point further forward, and can be set to a point that eliminates the 2-stage function of the trigger. Counter-clockwise will move the engagement point further rearward, however, it can be adjusted to a point at which the sear cannot be disengaged. If you experience a failure to fire, turn this adjuster clockwise ¼ turn and test again.
Adjuster #3 will adjust the trigger pull weight, and can help you dial your trigger down to a nice light pull. Counter-clockwise will reduce pull force, however, there must be enough spring pressure to set the sear when cocking the gun. If your gun does not cock after adjusting this screw, turn it ¼ turn clockwise and test again."
Handling:
This rifle sports a triple-slot polymer Picatinny rail under the frontal end of the stock for mounting a bipod, which comes highly recommended for shooting prone. We would suggest a 6-9" (short bipod) type for this purpose, as the mount rail towers about 40mm over the buttplate. This would just be to ensure that you don't shoot off of your elbows, so to say, unless you are shooting uphill / at an upward inclination.
Perhaps for consideration, HATSAN should have added stippling on the primary handling areas of the stock are at the very least, deep etched checkering such as found on the AT44-10. However, since the rifle is lightweight and since this rifle isn't exactly a tactical rifle insomuch as it is a bench shooter.
The magazine slot embedded into the stock behind the handle also adds a fun feel to the rifle - in the field, you'll need to transition the rifle to your left hand (if you are right-handed) w/ the barrel pointed upward, withdraw the magazine from the breech, swop it with the one drawn out from the stock and insert it right to left into the breech. You could also perform this with the rifle pointed outward, with the buttplate close to your right shoulder.
Filling:
This rifle features a 580cc bottle, filled up to 250 BAR of pressure. On factory setting in .22 w/ 15 gr pellets, this will yield about 100 good shots. The filling port is a male Q/C w/ enough hole space around it, to accomodate the female Q/C directly w/out the need of a third coupler / adapter, which is really nice. This is situated on the aluminium cover which the bottle threads into, that connects to the regulator. One should perhaps look at obtaining a female plug / stop-end to prevent ingress, on the male Q/C The bottle (Korean manufactured by INOCOM, 0.58l, 450g, MAX 310 BAR @65°C w/ clear inspection dates and unremovable certification labeled on) fills to its SWP (Safe Working Pressure) up to 250 BAR and from completely empty, just for reference, this equates to about one hour, twenty minutes worth of pumping w/ a 3 stage PCP Handpump. Please do cock the lever prior to filling your rifle up from empty and keep your rifle AT LEAST charged at 1000 PSI / 70 BAR when storing your rifle, as this will ward off ingress.
The guage is situated at the lopside of the stock and as such, you do not need to have the muzzle pointed at your forehead when observing the pressure left available for the rifle, which is always a welcome feature to a PCP rifle. The guage as usual, is HATSAN branded, with a medium-low resolution, which for most people is perfectly fine.
The rifle does sport HATSAN's choking technology, so be careful before using .218 slugs. Customer feedback usually indicates that your KO .217's, JSB monster REDESIGNED's, as well as the 25gr THOR slugs in .217 work fine with the NOVA STAR. It will likely yield the same performance on this rifle.

We really like and appreciate the laminate on this rifle, moreover the fine polishing finishing the texture off. The rubber buttplate here can be adjusted via the machine screw embedded into the curved buttplate. This will allow it to be adjusted either up or down to an extend. The cheekpiece here too, is adjustable, though you do not need an oversized flat drive, as the screws aren't too seriously torqued in place. a Firm twist should get you going.
As a pleasant surprise, you do get a slot in the stock to chuck your spare magazine in and there are synthetic guides to catch and retain the magazine - the magazine does not come into contact with the stock itself and the retainer is concealed flush. We think it looks really neat and you should be able to withdraw this magazine with your off-hand quite simply, although nevertheless, the magazine goes in from right to left. Worth keeping in mind if you are a right handed shooter. This feature does benefit LH shooters more. The stock here is ambidextrous.
The cocking lever is a two-stage mechanism, which serves both to actuate the pellet probe, as well as to engage the sear. Thereafter the spring load disengages from the lever, allowing for hold-back to load your magazine up. Thereafter, you can chamber a round by pushing the bolt forward, which will put the round into battery. Thereafter, you should be ready to discharge the rifle. The entire cocking assembly is steel.
At the end of your barrel, you have your 1/2x20" UNF threading for affixing an aftermarket silencer of your choice.
The barrel otherwise, is shrouded, in order to minimize some of the bark of this rifle, in order to capitalize properly on the power this rifle would put out, w/out assailing your eardrums in the process.
The rifle has enough bells and whistles to really make your life easy at the range or just for doing your 100 meter plinking etc. Due to the overall length of this rifle, we do recommend this as a distance gun, w/ an air supply fixed to the rifle to easily outlast you on several magazine set reloads. The weight on this is by no means overkill of any kind and the lamination of the stock, gives this rifle a character of its own, as no two NOVA STAR PREMIUM's will have the exact same countenance.
The buttplate and cheekpiece being adjustable, will allow your face to properly seat in behind the occular lense w/out stressing your body's natural composure into an unnatural/awkward pose. The cocking lever requires a bit of force, but nevertheless, please don't work rough on this lever, despite it being over-engineered for its purpose.
The Quattro trigger will further make the rifle adapt to your personal preference and certainly, the finger grooves on the handle will allow for better trigger control.
If you enjoy your days at the range / plinking field and you would like a funky wooden touch to your stock while simultaneously enjoy the power HATSAN rifles are known for w/ an externally adjustable regulator and all the slew of aforementioned niceties, then this rifle certainly is for you.
