This is the EKOL ASI, which, true to EKOL's excellent standards of quality, delivers us this lovely blank sub machine gun. Upon first examining this gun and checking out its features, we immediately knew and could feel that this gun is of superior build quality.
Right off the bat - the exterior of this SMG is polymer and the foregrip is integrated into the moulded shell - cannot be detached, save by permanent modification. The sight shields do give the impression of realism, although, the sights are sub-standard as can be expected, as they are for purely cosmetic purposes.
Unlike an UZI machine pistol, this gun is not top-cocking, but rather, has its charging handle on the left side, true to most German SMGs and battle and assault rifles. Not so good if you happen to be a lefty..
Unlike the slider tab on on UZI, here we have a rotational fire selector, that toggles between 6 'o clock and 9 'o clock above the forward half of the trigger guard. The position of this can be a bit of a niggle, as you can use your left hand via the foregrip, to flip the lever from SAFE to FULL AUTO just by using a bit of force. The force needed to toggle this lever, will cause you to have too much built-up kinetic energy to stop on the SEMI-AUTO position. Although, w/ some finer motor skills, you can just carefully toggle this lever from SAFE (9 'o clock) to SEMI AUTO (7 o' clock). This lever does positively click into position. Another point is that the horizontal position of this lever sits a tad close to the charging handle, which does make it a bit of a fidgety business to RAPIDLY toggle this lever in a stressful situation.
The above is all tactically speaking - for the average joe shooting a film, impressing his buddies, scaring off trespassers, rival taxi operators or discharging this gun in the spirit of divali (for those that do), the above is inconsequential.
All the controls on this gun is steel - your trigger, fire selector, magazine release, barrel, front sight, magazines, charging handle, fasteners, internal slide, etc.
In terms of MOUNTING options - there are dedicated Weaver rails on top of the gun, where you could mount a red dot, laser, flashlight. On top, we have 2x 3-slot rails, whereas under the barrel, we have a short 2-slot rail. This woukld probably be the ideal spot to chuck your flashlight on to.
In terms of charging the SMG - This gun has a type of slide hold-open akin to a WALTHER PPK - When you cock the gun w/ an empty magazine inserted, the slide will hold open. This can only be reset by either removing the magazine and pulling the lever back or by replacing the magazine w/ atleast one round in and pulling the lever back (in which case, it will load said cartridge into battery) This gun likewise is Single Action Only, so the trigger is only responsive if the gun has been cocked. Please bear in mind that, even w/ the charging handle reset as in example #1 above, you'll still need to pull the trigger to decock the internal hammer, for storage purposes.
The charging handle, as mentioned, is all-steel and will not break. It is forwardly curved as well, to make it easier to rack.
Otherwise, in terms of what you're getting in this deal, it is as follows;
- 1x EKOL ASI blank-firing SMG, front-venting
- 1x 16 round double stack magazine, 9x22mm P.A.K cal.
- 1x 25 round double stack extended magazine, 9x22mm P.A.K cal.
The folding stock does not come included, but is sold separately as an accessory. It is manufactured by EKOL as well and is compatible only w/ the ASI model.
Technical Specifications:
Replica of |
Not really an UZI replica - the handle is more of a traditional pistol grip, the charging handle is on the side, the fire selector is a rotary type. We'd rather chalk this up as a UZI / H&K SMG hybrid, featuring likeable features from both platforms. Also compatible w/ the mentioned folding stock, to give you a nice, low cost blank RONI / carbine type of gun. Only on this gun, you are able to fire fully-automatic. |

Just when you thought blank firing pistols were limited to smaller handguns, Ekol jumped in and produced this unreal SUBMACHINE pistol. FULL AUTO. Pull the trigger, unleash the beast. The ‘gun’ is a full sized machine pistol that holds 17 rounds in the magazine with a +1 in the chamber. As close to the real thing as you can get in the UK! This ‘gun’ fires unbelievably fast so make sure you get enough 9mm blank ammo to get the most out of this blank firer.
The body of the ‘gun’ includes a permanently fixed foregrip, slide cocking lever and real attention to detail. It’s comfortable, grippy and just fun to look at and enjoy. All the ammo ejects out of the right hand side of the ‘gun’ so make sure that’s clear when you’re using the pistol. It’s made from a mix of ABS polymer and metal resulting in a weight and feel just the way you’d expect.
This blank firer uses 9mm blanks, which are a little larger and louder than their 8mm equivalents in some of our other blank shooters. Each cycle is extremely loud, with noticeably satisfying recoil and authentic pistol self loading action. Because of this, care must be taken to protect your ears during use, ear protection is required, eye protection is recommended.
Always keep the pistol pointed in a safe direction, and never ‘fire’ it toward people or animals. While blanks are usually very safe, ensure people, animals or anything important are at a safe distance from the vent on the top and side. Hot gasses and debris can and will be discharged from this vent, and may cause burns or other injury’s.
