Cobra Adventure AM245 2-Way Radio, Twin Pack
Two handsets, one charging cable, no contract and no airtime. The Cobra Adventure AM245 twin pack is the simplest way to keep a small group connected once phone signal thins out, on a campsite, a farm, a fishing trip or a busy shopping centre. Each radio weighs 65 g and stands 131 mm tall, so it clips to a belt or drops into a jacket pocket without anyone noticing it is there.
Eight channels cover ordinary group chatter and the LCD display shows the channel and battery state at a glance. Auto squelch trims the hiss between messages, a roger beep tone confirms you have finished speaking, and call alert gets attention when someone has wandered off. Battery saver circuitry stretches the six rechargeable AAA NiMH cells supplied in the box, a low battery indicator warns you before they run flat, and the micro USB cable with its Y plug charges both radios from a single port.
Who the AM245 suits
Families, campers and anyone who wants a spare set living permanently in the bakkie. Range is quoted at 5 km in open conditions, which in practice means clear contact across a campsite or a farmyard.
