What a regulator actually does

An unregulated PCP delivers whatever pressure is in the cylinder at that moment, which means velocity climbs, peaks and then falls across a fill. You get a small window of consistent shots in the middle and waste the rest. A regulator sits between the cylinder and the valve and delivers a fixed lower pressure to every shot, which flattens the curve.

Two things follow from that. Velocity becomes far more consistent, which shows up directly as tighter groups at distance. And usable shot count rises considerably, because the whole fill is delivered at working pressure rather than only the middle portion of it.

Regulators are model-specific

The unit stocked here is built for the Kral Puncher Mega and will not fit another rifle. Huma-Air produces regulators for a wide range of platforms, each dimensioned to that rifle's cylinder and valve arrangement. Check the exact model before ordering, since close is not good enough on a pressure component.

Why silicone grease specifically

Ordinary petroleum lubricants attack the O-rings and seals used in airgun pressure systems, and they can also present a risk in a high pressure air environment. Silicone grease is inert against those materials and is the correct product for seals, cylinder threads and probe O-rings. A 10 gram tub lasts a long time, since these are applied sparingly.

Common questions

Is fitting a regulator a home job? The push-fit design simplifies it considerably compared with older designs. It still involves working on a pressure system, so if you are not confident with depressurising and reassembling a PCP, have it done by someone who is.

Will it increase power? Not usually, and that is not the point. It makes power consistent, which is what improves grouping and shot count.

How do I know it is working? A chronograph. Shoot a string across a full fill and compare the spread before and after. That is the only way to see what a regulator has actually done.

Can I use the grease on anything else? It is formulated for airgun seals and O-rings. It works generally on rubber and polymer, though avoid it where a specific lubricant is specified.
