Barrel length is the real difference

A longer barrel gives the air more time to work on the pellet, which usually means higher velocity from the same charge or the same velocity from less air. A shorter barrel is easier to carry and manoeuvre. Neither is better in the abstract, and the stock material is a matter of preference rather than performance.

Moderated from the factory

Both rifles are supplied moderated, which means no separate moderator purchase and no thread compatibility to work out. That removes the most common fitment problem on a new PCP.

You still need a fill source

As with any pre-charged rifle, neither includes a way to charge it. A hand pump, a dive bottle with the correct adapter, or an electric compressor is a necessary additional purchase. On a rifle at this price the compressor is usually the sensible route, since hand pumping a large cylinder repeatedly gets old quickly.

Common questions

Why 5.5mm rather than 4.5mm? At PCP power levels .22 delivers a better balance of energy and trajectory for most South African use, particularly pest control.

Do I need a springer-rated scope? No. PCPs have no two-way recoil, so any quality scope will work.

How many shots per fill? That depends on the rifle setup and cylinder pressure. A chronograph is the only reliable way to find where velocity starts falling off.
