This is the single most common ordering error on electric locks, and getting it wrong means the lock physically will not fit. Four combinations of hand and swing exist, and they are not adjustable after purchase. Check on site rather than from memory.

What the Elettrika booster does

Electric locks draw a significant current at the moment of release, and on a long cable run the voltage arriving at the lock can drop below what is needed to pull the solenoid. The result is a lock that works intermittently or only when the gate is unloaded. The coil is a repair part

Common questions

Rim lock or swing gate lock? Rim locks mount on the surface of the gate frame and are the common choice on pedestrian and rim-framed gates. Swing gate locks are built for the larger loads and movement of a driveway swing gate.

Do these work with any gate motor? Generally yes, provided the motor controller has an output to trigger the lock. Check the wiring against your controller, since the connection varies between brands.

What happens during loadshedding? An electric lock without power stays in its default state. Models with a release button allow manual exit from inside regardless, which is worth specifying on any gate that is the only way out.

12V or 24V? Match the lock to the supply already present at the gate. The Elettrika booster handles both 12 and 24V, AC or DC.
