Buy training rounds with the launcher

This is the practical advice that gets skipped. Pepper and Max projectiles cost around ten times what an inert training round does, and a launcher you have never fired is not much use under pressure. Learning the trigger, the sights and the reload on inert rounds costs a fraction of doing it on live ones, and the weight and flight are comparable enough to be worth the practice.

SD, XL or TCR?

The SD is the compact launcher and the usual starting point. The SD XL is larger, holds more, and is the more common choice where concealment matters less than capacity. The TCR is the rifle-format platform at the top of the range, and it is a different proposition in size and price. Holsters are sized to the launcher, so check whether you need the standard or XL version, and whether you want left or right hand.
