Choosing a bipod height

The 6 to 9 inch bipod suits shooting prone off flat ground and is the more common choice. The 9 to 13 inch handles uneven terrain, long grass and shooting from a sitting position, at the cost of a slightly higher and less stable platform when fully extended. Both use the Harris swivel pattern, which lets the rifle cant to level on uneven ground rather than fighting the slope.
