Ajax Wireless Alarm Systems in South Africa

Ajax sits at the premium end of wireless security, and the range is best understood as one connected system rather than a set of separate products. Everything talks to a Hub, which is why the Hub is both the first purchase and the thing that determines what else will work. NeonSales carries 63 Ajax products, from R98 for a button holder up to R7,941 for a Hub 2 Plus.

What Ajax products does NeonSales stock?

  • Hubs: Hub 2 Plus, the controller every other device connects to

What makes Ajax different

Feature What it means in practice
Photo verification MotionCam sends images with the alarm, so you can tell a real intrusion from a false trigger before anyone is dispatched
Fully wireless No cabling, which makes it viable in a finished home or a rented property
Beyond intrusion Water leak detection with automatic shutoff valves, and heat and smoke detection, on the same Hub
Transmitter module Brings existing wired detectors or an electric fence energiser into the Ajax system

Start with the Hub

Nothing in this range works standalone. The Hub is the controller, the connection to your phone and the link to monitoring, so it is the first thing to buy and the thing to size correctly. Detectors, keypads and buttons are then added as needed. If your property is large or has thick walls, a ReX 2 range extender is the usual answer to a device that will not hold a reliable connection, rather than moving the Hub.

Is photo verification worth the premium?

It depends on whether you are paying for armed response call-outs. A false alarm costs money and erodes response priority over time. MotionCam lets you or your provider look at what triggered the sensor before anyone drives out, which on a property with pets, wind or foliage can pay for itself. On a small flat with few false triggers, standard MotionProtect detectors are enough.

Common questions

Can Ajax integrate with my electric fence? Yes, through the Transmitter module or the dedicated electric fence kit, which brings the energiser status into the same app and the same alarm.

Do the outdoor detectors need the hood? The hood is a separate part and protects MotionProtect Outdoor from direct sun and rain. On an exposed wall it is worth adding rather than treating as optional.

How does WaterStop work? LeaksProtect detects water and the WaterStop valve closes the supply automatically. Buy the valve size matching your plumbing, either 1/2 or 3/4 inch, since they are not interchangeable.

Black or white? Cosmetic only. Devices are functionally identical, so choose whichever disappears better against your walls.
