Air Arms Diabolo Field Pellets in South Africa

Air Arms is a British airgun maker with a long-standing reputation in field target shooting, and the Diabolo Field pellet carries that name for good reason. It is a domed pellet built to tight tolerance, and among PCP shooters it sits in the same conversation as the premium Czech and German brands rather than below them. Standard or Heavy?

The heavy version needs power behind it to make sense. In a modest rifle it will shoot slower without the range benefit, so it suits a tuned PCP rather than an entry-level one. If you are unsure, start with the standard 16 grain.

Common questions

Why is Air Arms more expensive than budget pellets? Weight and dimensional consistency. At close range you will not see it. At 40 metres and beyond, in a rifle capable of showing the difference, you will.

Which pellet will my rifle like? No specification predicts it. Barrels have preferences, and two identical rifles can favour different pellets. Buy a single tin and group it at your normal distance before committing to bulk.

Why is the Heavy sold in 250s? Smaller tin size at a higher weight. It also makes testing less costly before you commit to it as your regular pellet.

Domed or pointed? Diabolo Field is a domed pellet, which is the most forgiving shape in wind and the usual choice for accuracy. Pointed pellets favour penetration over consistency.
