The OPTEX BXS Shield Wireless Outdoor PIR with Anti-Masking is an outdoor perimeter motion detector designed to provide reliable detection across two independently configurable detection zones. Featuring dual-sided detection up to 12 metres per side, the BXS Shield provides up to 24 metres of combined detection coverage while allowing the left and right sides to be adjusted independently.
The detector uses four PIR sensors, with two PIRs positioned on each side. Its digital dual-layer detection technology requires both detection layers to be triggered, helping distinguish people from smaller animals and reducing unwanted activations in outdoor environments.
The BXS Shield allows installers to configure the left and right detection areas independently. Each side can be adjusted for range and sensitivity according to the layout of the property, allowing the detector to focus coverage where it is required.
Sensitivity can be set from low through to extremely high levels, with the highest setting capable of detecting temperature differences as small as approximately 1°C.
Each side of the detector uses two passive infrared beams, with one beam directed towards the ground and the other positioned away from the sensor. Both beams must be activated for an alarm condition, helping to minimise unwanted detection caused by smaller animals while maintaining reliable detection of people.
The OPTEX BXS Shield is designed with installation and adjustment in mind. Its 90° unlocking system provides convenient access during setup, while the built-in spirit level helps ensure the detector is correctly aligned. Key adjustment areas are colour-coded in blue for easier configuration.
