Really nice sling, which we recommend using for assault rifles, specifically M16's, M4's and AR15's.

A good, practical way to utilize this sling (more or less how it was designed to be used), is to attach the one clash-hook to the frontal end of the rifle (the end w/ the plastic buckle and reinforced end to the fore sling loop as illustrated (under the front sight assembly) and likewise, at the rear, the other / free floating clash-hook to the sling loop at the buttstock toe.

The free floating retainer at the rear, is so named because it can run along the webbing, so as to be able to stay at the given lead length, when adjusting the buttstock position. Just keep the runner of this lead by your shoulder / the rear side of the buttstock pad, then it won't be in your way and will pull taut once the rifle leans.

The other / attachment end of the sling, attaches to the sling loop under the front sight assembly as mentioned. The plastic buckle coupling here, we're still investigating and will report on soon. The terminal leading up to the clash hook, is very stiffly reinforced, presumably as to withstand heat-emission from the barrel, specifically, contact w/ said barrel, so as to not critically damage the sling by contact.

Otherwise, this sling is an excellent utility for your old school sling setup - keeps your rifle across your torso w/ the barrel pointing diagonally downward. Assuming your sling's length setting is correct for your person and your buttstock is on the correct setting for your arm length, you should be able to swing your rifle up from "low ready" position and with a little training, acquire a sight picture instantly. Just be sure to practice and train yourself frequently in this regard. This is really nice to run w/ your rifle, as your rifle is maintained in a given position, allowing you to have it ready at all times, hands-free.

Otherwise, the sling is bountifully reinforced - the webbing is 2.15mm thick (double layered) and 38.5mm wide. The clash hooks themselves are not ferrous metal / not magnetic, w/ the exception of the pins and spring load on the hinging gates. It goes w/out saying that this entire sling is pure synthetic, which will ensure longevity.

The polymer buckle by the clash hook that attaches by the barrel end of the rifle, can be uncoupled, unconstraining the middle webbing runner and allows greater freedom of movement on the rifle, whereas otherwise, the rifle and its use would be dependant on the direction that the torso is facing. The downside to this is that, similar to a one point sling, the rifle may have too much manoeuverability, that can cause the rifle (particularly the barrel end) to swing around. This however, does not allow the rifle the amount of freedom the way a one point sling does.

Unlike more modern three point slings, there is no tab to quickly tighten or loosen the rifle up from your torso - this adjusting will have to be performed the old way.
