Realistic features of this rifle includes;
- T-shaped charging handle that flips the dust cover open
- Bolt hold-open if the magazine is empty, or if the rifle is being cocked w/ no ammunition in the magazine.
- Brass casing deflector moulded into the upper receiver
- Pistol grip that can come off and be replaced w/ an aftermarket pistol grip intended for an AR-15
-
Bolt release on the left face of the rifle, which can also be utilized to manually hold the bolt open
- Magazine release on the right face of the lower receiver, that is w/in reach of one trigger finger. It might be possible to push the magazine release switch through and rotate it to adjust its tension setting, though we haven't physically tried this ourselves yet.
- Five point collapsible CAR-15 buttstock w/ buffer tube according to MIL-SPEC dimensions, not commercial. You can fit an aftermarket buttstock on as such - the supplied buttstock is removed much the way an AR-15 stock one is.
-
Quad Picatinny handguard, for mounting Picatinny-interface accessories on, such as foregrips, laser pointers, optical sighting devices and flashlights
- Takedown pin set w/ spring-loaded ball-bearing retention that can be removed, rear and front, to split upper from lower receiver. Hinging your upper receiver otherwise over forward, hinging on the frontal takedown pin, you can remove both your bolt carrier group as well as your charging handle.. However, because this is a CO2 operated rifle chambered in .177, do expect a few deviations on the internals, from that of an AR-15.
- The safety / fire selector lever operates realistically, allowing you to select either semi or full-automatic, or put the rifle on SAFE. The positions of these options w/ regards to the lever, replicated exactly as it features on an AR-15.
- Picatinny-mounted flip-up iron sights, also known as "BUIS" (acronym for Backup Iron Sights) that can be adjusted for windage and elevation (respectively at the front and rear) w/ an additional diopter size setting on the rear sight loop.
- Fluted muzzle brake, that adds cosmetic realism to the rifle, but has no mechanical value to the rifle otherwise.
- The forward assist is moulded, adding further realism to the rifle and likewise, there are pawl grooves on the right face of the bolt group, but the forward assist button is completely stationary.
Overall - In our assessment - this rifle has alot more realism to it, as opposed to the NORTH WEAPON AR-15 BLANK ASSAULT RIFLE, 9X22MM PAK, which lacks a reliable bolt hold-open, automatic and manual at that. But on the other hand, the Crosman R1 4.5mm BB rifle, has no muzzle flash and doesn't produce much in the way of noise when fired, but does produce properly felt blowback, which the blank rifle does not.
We would say, for the avid AR-15 owner / enthusiast, the CROSMAN R1 or even the SBR DPMS is a better option than a blank-firing rifle.

The Crosman Full Auto R1 in black gives you an additional option in their lineup of full auto BB guns. It features components that are AR compatible, giving you the ability to customize it, and the realistic feel and operation make it perfect for dispatching cans with authority or quick target practice.
Using 2 CO2 cartridges in the 25rd drop free magazine for power and with speeds up to 430 fps at up to a sizzling 1400 rounds a minute, this airgun is engineered for extreme enjoyment. You can switch the pistol grip with your preferred AR compatible grip, and the buttstock gives you a flexible length of pull because it adjusts to 6 different positions.
If you're looking to learn how to safely operate something similar to the AR platform, this is a good place to start because it has a magazine, good felt blowback, and operation that will help familiarize you with the process. If you're used to the real steel version, this is a fun way to practice that's not as noisy, and with ammo that's a lot more affordable.
The rifle includes removable open front and rear sights for the top scope rail, and can be swapped for other scopes, plus lasers, bipods, and other accessories using the quad Picatinny rails on the handguard.
