Forster occupies a specific place in reloading: precision tooling for handloaders who care about concentricity and repeatable seating depth. The Bench Rest and Ultra Micro lines are built around minimising runout, which is why they turn up on benches where group size is the whole point. NeonSales carries 130 Forster products, from R1,894 for a bushing bump neck sizing die up to R3,232 for an Ultra Micro seater.
The stocked spread runs from small varmint cartridges such as 22 Hornet, 222 Rem, 223 Rem and 204 Ruger, through the 6mm and 6.5mm target chamberings including 6 Creedmoor, 6mm PRC, 6mm x45, 6.5x47 Lapua, 6.5x55 Swedish and 6.5-284, into hunting and magnum calibres such as 243 Win, 270 Win, 270 WSM, 270 Weatherby, 284 Win, 284 Shehane, 7x57 Mauser, 30-30 Win and 300 Weatherby. Dies are calibre-specific, so check the exact chambering rather than assuming a family fits.
Do Forster dies fit my press? They use the standard 7/8-14 thread found on almost every single stage and turret press, so compatibility is rarely the issue.
Is a micrometer seater worth the extra over a standard one? If you are load developing, yes. Being able to write down a seating depth and dial straight back to it removes an entire source of variation between sessions. For plinking ammunition it is money better spent elsewhere.
What does a bushing die actually buy me? Control over neck tension. Swapping bushings changes how hard the neck grips the bullet, which affects both consistency and how much the brass gets worked. It also extends case life, since you are not oversizing and then expanding back every cycle.
Why check runout? A cartridge whose bullet sits off the case axis enters the throat crooked, and that shows up as vertical dispersion on paper. The Inspector gauge measures it, which is the only way to know whether your process is the problem.
