The HATSAN FACTOR BULLPUP certainly is one our personal favourites here. Foregoing the AR-15 stock w/ crown nut threading and its five point collapsible niceness, we now have a short stock similar to the BLITZ bullpup; the buttplate can be adjusted up and down after releasing the machine screw threaded into the buttplate. There is an adjustable cheekpiece here as well, whose height can be adjusted by hand-loosening the screw by the buttstock, then raising or lowering the cheekpiece as desired. The different settings are numerically indicated, making it easier to remember a previous setting. Altogether, 7 elevation settings are possible, which will go a long way to getting your eye relief setting behind the occular lense of the scope correct.

The rail on top is a dedicated / stand-alone aluminium HATSAN type rail, which is a hybrid dovetail / weaver rail, accomodating for either / or, without having a breech slot interrupting the rail. Being CNC milled, it will ensure optic mount repeatability / won't be as temperature affected as polymer and your optic should retain its zero once taken off and re-attached (onto the same weaver rail slots). The rail length here is 360mm, which is not bad at all and does allow a variety of additions, to your main optic.

What makes this rifle (FACTOR) stand out, is that just about every power setting is externally adjustable.. Not quite like an IMPACT, to be sure, but nice enough. At the rear of the stock, you have the hammer setting adjustability by means of the steel disc serrated along its circumference for ease of adjustability. There is also a printed indicator on that same control, indicating where the hammer spring setting is currently sitting on, in terms of the two extremities possible. There is a negative and positive symbol on both ends of the dial, for ease of reference, when tensioning or untensioning the said spring.

The breech here is akin to the BLITZ and likewise, it uses the same magazine. Though unlike the FACTOR and FACTOR RC, you don't have a towering magazine slope here you'll need to account for when choosing a set of mount rings, as aforementioned optics rail is elevated from the rail.

The pistol grip on the rifle is a nice AR-15 type, with pinstripe grooves and mild texturing comprising its entire face on both sides. It is furthermore rubber moulded, so as to 'squish' into your grasp and allow for a more confident grasp. The rubbe rused here is very tacky and would even tact proper to a sweaty palm.

The trigger here is absolutely delightful, possibly the best on a HATSAN we've encountered thusfar; breaks crisp and clean, but does have a bit of slack that needs to be taken up. The trigger blade has a minute scallop shape too, meaning you should grab ahold of the trigger a but high, compared to other air rifles. As you might have guessed - the trigger shoe here is adjustable for angle, by loosening the phillips drive screw, then retightening after the angle of the shoe has been set as desired.

The trigger blade is steel as is the small horizontal barrel shaped safety right in front of it, that toggles easily back and forward into FIRE and SAFE modes, indicated on the right face of the rifle, on the stock just above the trigger.

Moving toward the frontal end of the stock, we have the integrated male Q/C, which the supplied long female Q/C would adhear to airtight. This part has male 1/8" BSP threading at the rear, so in conjunction w/ the supplied dowty washer, you can affix a female 1/8" BSP x Male Q/C part and allow for your filling coupler to be quickly detachable for your fillwhip, be that from a compressor, scuba tank, handpump etc.

Under the action of the rifle, we have a five-slotted Picatinny rail that is made from steel, supplied w/ a HATSAN branded rubber slip-over to both protect it as well as anything it might accidentally knock. This rail is affixed to the action w/ a countersunk screw. This assumes that the rail therefore is replaceable should there ever be a need for that.

The cocking lever in thoroughly steel, specifically three layers / laminate of plates, which the chromed vertical lever is affixed to. This in turn, attaches on a hinge action, to the polymer guide riding on a stainless steel tube. This polymer guide is in turn connected to the pellet probe - hinging the cocking lever rearwards likewise retracts the pellet probe, cocking the gun and allowing the self-indexing magazine to index the next pellet in the magazine dial. Pushing the cocking lever forward chambers the indexed pellet, whereafter the trigger is primed.

The frontal end of the rifle action features a set of side-by-side guages, both branded, indicated w/ white print on the action, respectively "REGULATOR" and "AIRTUBE", although it would probably be 'AIR CYLINDER' more like, in this case, as this rifle comes stock fitted w/ a carbon fibre tank, 580cc (0.58l) made by the South Korean company "INOCOM", as you'd have with most other HATSAN PCP rifles fitted w/ a carbon fibre bottle.

As you might have guessed from the previous explanation on what makes this rifle stand out from the rest of the HATSAN line-up, is the fact that all the controls are externally adjustable, and the regulator is no exception - you'll see the relevant control above the port where the air cylinder meets the action of the rifle, likewise the instruction manual elucidates on this procedure - however, just as the cocking lever on the bullpup version cannot be reversed over onto the left face of the rifle, likewise, the regulator adjustment does differ from the FACTOR RC model. The tool here as well, differs from the one the FACTOR RC is supplied with as well. Presumably the bottle in this case must be removed as well, prior to adjustment, to bleed the regulator - as a rule of thumb, a regulator should usually be depleted before the pressure setting on it is detuned. Some people do tune the regulators up with the regulator pressurized and normally this isn't a problem. It also makes it easy as you can track the guage needle while performing the live adjustment, to get your setting more precise, with less time and effort.

The left face of this rifle is mostly uneventful, save for two features;
The power selector sits here, which presumably toggles the width of the transfer port. There are three settings and this steel knob is hard knurled with good reason as well - it takes some effort to rotate and aforementioned knurling does make it easy. The power that these three different settings yield, can be seen in the technical specifications below.

Secondly, we have the magazine winder key that slots into the stock. To remove it, you simply need to turn it from its 3 'o clock position, to its 5 'o clock, whereafter you should be able to pull it from the stock w/ a bit of wiggling. Just be careful not to loose this tool as we cannot guarentee you an OEM spare. This feature is exactly like on the BLITZ - we appreciate that it slots onto the rifle and is therefore always on hand - you'll never need to scramble to reload your high cap magazines - just keep your ammunition at hand as well.

Otherwise, in terms of sling carry - feel free to utilize the 45° angled sling loophole at the rear, in conjunction w/ a Picatinny - sling swivel adapter mounted on the Picatinny strip under the rifle, which will certainly help to keep your rifle close at hand if you venture on foot into the bush.

The shroud-end here has a serrated thread protector threaded on, which, when threaded off, reveals the steel 1/2x20" UNF thread that the majority of after market silencers are compliant with. For a riflelike this, we do recommend a proper 0db silencer or a DONNYFL EMPEROR, to really compliment the barrel shroud on the rifle.

Then of course, certainly not least - the snazzy branded hardshell carry case this rifle is supplied with. This has four shifting clips, that move either into a locked or unlocked position, by shifting sideways.

The big question we now sit with is;
Will this allow for a telescope / optic to be mounted on and still allow the rifle to fit in the case w/out scratching or fitting too tightly on the scope?

There is an 80mm clearance to allow for a scope, so certainly, however, try to use as low mount rings as possible as the rail already adds 20 MOA to your height off the barrel. Thereafter, carefully consider the objective bell diameter of the scope and if you have a pointy elevation (tactical) turret. Somethinng like a NIKKO STERLING PANAMAX 4-16x50 AO using removable turret caps, w/ high HAWKE mount rings will fit just fine here. Scopes w/ HAWKE stop-n-lock turrets might need medium / low mount rings instead.

Again, if unsure, feel free to contact us for assistance and we'll help as best we can.

Btw - the padding insert is not profile moulded, instead, medium density eggtray foam on both sides, unlike the FACTOR, so you have the freedom to set and arrange your rifle, optics and accessories in the case as you'd like.

Included here, you'll receive;

2x 21 shot self-indexing magazines.
1x Polymer flipper-type single shot loader, .22.
1x Long stainless steel 8mm female Q/C with 1/8" male BSP threading at the rear.
Spare O-rings.
1x 1/8" thread dowty washer.
2x HATSAN branded high quality stickers. These feel hard, slightly debossed in a bubble-ish shape w/ a strong adhesion backing

..

This rifle for this price, certainly does fall into the same price bracket of your starter FX rifles and alot of buyers will, for this price, try to haggle for a second-hand FX IMPACT MKII or MAVERICK instead, however, HATSAN rifles in our opinion are build stronger, more robust and will be able to handle more abuse. They are a bit crude in their design and all of the controls, due to the prominent steel design of these rifles, toggle a bit hard - not quite as crisp / refined as their Swedish counterpart, though we ourselves certainly do stand behind these rifles and have ever since the legendary AT44-10 has made its debut on our soil.
